- How many questions are on the G1 test?
- 40 — 20 on road rules and 20 on road signs. You need 80% (16/20) in each section.
- How many questions are on the M1 test?
- 64 — 20 road signs, 20 road rules and 24 motorcycle-specific. Pass 80% in each section.
- What's the pass mark for the Ontario knowledge tests?
- 80% in every section. Getting 16/20 on G1 signs but 15/20 on rules means you fail the whole test.
- How much does the G1 test cost?
- Fees are set by the MTO and change over time — check the official DriveTest page for current amounts before booking.
- Where do I take the G1 or M1 knowledge test?
- At a DriveTest centre on a touchscreen. You book online at DriveTest.ca or by phone.
- Can I drive at night with a G1?
- No. G1 drivers cannot drive between midnight and 5 a.m.
- Can I ride at night with an M1?
- No. M1 riders can only ride between half an hour before sunrise and half an hour after sunset.
- Can an M1 rider carry a passenger?
- No. Passengers are not allowed with an M1 — you move to M2 before carrying anyone.
