G1 test format
- 40 questions — 20 on road rules and 20 on road signs.
- Pass mark: 80% (16/20) in each section. Fail one section and you fail the test.
- Multiple-choice with four options. No penalty for guessing — a wrong answer is just a missed mark.
- Taken on a touchscreen at a DriveTest centre.

- What is the passing grade for the G1 test?
- 80% in each section — you need at least 16 of 20 on road rules and 16 of 20 on road signs.
- How hard is the G1 test?
- Most people pass with focused study. The questions come straight from the Official Driver's Handbook, so if you know the handbook and practise, you'll be ready.
- Can you fail the G1 and retake it?
- Yes. If you don't pass you can retake the test after paying the fee again. There is no limit on attempts.
